2010 High School Staff
Jason
Dombrowski, Charlotte Latin-Assistant Coach Team Charlotte HS Boy's Head Coach. Originally from Long Island, NY, Jason Dombrowski enters his second season as an assistant at Charlotte Latin School. After 6 season at the helm of Pfeiffer University. Dombrowski ’95 graduated of Pfeiffer with a double major in Business Administration and Sports Management. He also holds a minor in economics with special concentration in Finance. As both an alumni of the University and a former member of the Falcon lacrosse team, Jason continues to strengthen the lacrosse tradition so firmly established at Pfeiffer University. Dombrowski demands that players and coaches alike commit to the responsibility of being a member of a successful program on all levels. Dombrowski served as the assistant men's lacrosse coach at Pfeiffer from 1994-1996. He was the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Lees McRae College from 1996 to 1999. During his playing career at Pfeiffer, Dombrowski served as the Co-Coordinator of the Great Atlantic England Tour in 1988, traveled with the Bud Lacrosse team to England in 1997, was drafted 5th by the Charlotte Cobras expansion team in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL) 1995, was the team MVP in 1990, and was a four-year starter for the Pfeiffer Lacrosse team. He also served as the Chair of the Deep South Lacrosse Committee from 1998-2000, 2002-2005 and was appointed to the NCAA II Lacrosse Championship Advisory Committee in 1999 and currently sits on the NCAA II Lacrosse Championship Committee. William
Humphery, Head Coach Providence Senior High School. Team Charlotte HS boys-Defense. Coach Humphrey led the Panthers to a win in the 2004 Charlotte High School City Lacrosse Conference Championship game in his first season. The Panthers returned to the Charlotte City Championship for the first time since 2001. Humphrey was named 2004 City Lacrosse Coach of the Year.
In 2005 Providence repeated as CHSCLC and newly re-named North Carolina High School Lacrosse Conference (NCHSLC) Champions. In 2006, the Panthers won the NCHSLA- Western Conference Championship and in 2007 the Panthers won the newly formed NCHSLA- Queens City Conference Championship and he was named 2007 Queen City Conference- Coach of the Year.
Coach Humphrey coached Lacrosse at his alma mater Hempstead High School from 1990 until 2001. Coach Humphrey has been an Asst. Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator and coached defenseman and goalies for the Tiger lacrosse program. While an athlete at Hempstead, Coach Humphrey was a Co-Captain, All Conference and All County Defenseman as a senior on Hempstead’s 1983 Conference Championship lacrosse team and played in the prestigious 1983 Nassau County Exceptional Senior Lacrosse Game.
Coach Humphrey is an alumnus of Hobart College where he played lacrosse and football. Coach Humphrey also holds a Masters degree from Fordham University, a Bachelors degree from Molloy College and an Associates degree from Nassau College. He is a Licensed School Social Worker working at Providence High School. He also plays on, coordinates and founded the Faded Blue Lacrosse Club. Coach Humphrey lives in Charlotte with his wife Ingrid (a teacher with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools), and their son’s, William II (2 ½) and Edward Julien (1 month).
Tim Price, Head Coach at Ardrey Kell HS. Team Charlotte HS boys-Attack. During his time in Charlotte, Price led Charlotte Latin for three seasons and served as an assistant at Providence Day for two seasons. Additionally, Price has devoted his summers to coaching lacrosse with Team Carolina, Team Charlotte and numerous summer camps. Price has coached at the under 17, 15, and 11 levels while with Team Charlotte. In 2005, he led Team Carolina to a 12-5 record against national competition during their inaugural summer. In 2006, under Price's direction Team Carolina finished 11-3 including a #5 ranking at the nationally recognized recruiting tournament Champ Camp in Baltimore, Maryland. While with Team Carolina, Price coached nine North Carolina High School All-Americans. Prior to his arrival in Charlotte, Price served six seasons at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. After two seasons as an assistant coach, Price was named as Head Coach in 1997 and placed in charge of guiding Quinnipiac from Division II status to Division I. At the time of Quinnipiac’s elevation to Division I, Price was the youngest NCAA Division I head lacrosse coach. In 1999 Quinnipiac posted an 8-7 record in their first season of Division I. Price’s squad tied for second place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference after being picked to finish last. In 2001 Quinnipiac cruised to a 13-0 record before finishing the season 14-2. Quinnipiac went 9-0 to win the MAAC regular season title outright earning Price MAAC Coach of the Year honors. In 2002, Price engineered the most potent offense in Division I, averaging nearly 17 goals a game. Tim Price is a 1995 graduate of Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. As a player Price was a four year letterman at Division III power Ithaca College. While at Ithaca, the Bombers visited the NCAA semi-finals and won an ECAC Upstate Championship. A native of Long Island, Price now resides in Matthews, North Carolina with his wife Angela, son Jackson and daughter Mia.
Dylan Sheridan, Assistant Coach Pfeiffer University. Team Charlotte HS Boys. A California native, enters his first season as Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach for the Pfeiffer Falcons. Sheridan graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2006, where he double majored in Psychology and Film Studies as well as completing the Leadership Studies Sequence. Prior to attending Claremont, Sheridan was a standout student-athlete at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. While there, he played varsity lacrosse for four years, and was selected as captain of the football team his junior and senior seasons, earning all league accolades both years. During that time he was able to collect a state championship in lacrosse, and back-to-back league titles in football. In college, Dylan continued to pursue both football and lacrosse: playing strong safety for the Stags and attack for the Cougars. On the lacrosse field he excelled earning MCLA All America and All West Coast honors his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. During his senior year he lead the MCLA in scoring with 114 points, and was awarded All West Coast Lacrosse League Offensive Player of the Year, and named to the 2006 MCLA All-Tournament Team. Dylan finished his career with over 300 points. In 2005 Sheridan traveled to Osaka Japan as a member of Team USA West.
Dan McMahon, Assistant Coach Adrey Kell HS. Team Charlotte HS Boys. Coach McMahon is a graduate Queens University of Charlotte where he had a distinguished three year career. Dan was regarded as on off the best face-off midfielder's in the Division II ranks. Before arriving at Queens, Dan played for coaching legend Paul Wehrum at Herkimer Community College. In 2003, Dan's only season at Herkimer, the Generals went undefeated and won the Junior College National Championship. Dan earned Academic All-American honors while at Herkimer. A native of Syracuse, NY, where he attended and played at Central Square High School, Dan has international and local playing experience. Dan is currently a member of the Charlotte Lacrosse Club. In addition, Dan is continuing a degree in education at Queens and will begin student-teaching duties in the fall of 2007.
Steve Schmidt, Assistant Coach Adrey Kell HS. Team Charlotte HS Boys. Steve Schmidt is a graduate Towson State in Maryland. Coach Schmidt has the distinction of having played for a trio of legendary coaches. While at Towson State in Maryland, Steve played for current Towson coach Tony Seaman. Prior to transferring to Towson, Steve attended Virginia Military Institute, where he played for recently retired coach Doug Bartlett. A native of Huntington, NY, Steve played high school lacrosse under coach Pat Shea at national powerhouse Saint Anthony's.
Fredy Lazo, Providence HS Assistant Coach. Team Charlotte HS Boys. Coach Lazo comes to Providence High School from Bellport, New York. Coach Lazo is a Spanish teacher at Providence High School and an assistant football coach. Coach Lazo’s will work with Rick Pons as a defensive assistant. Coach Lazo is a graduate of the University of Maine where he was a 3 year letter winner in football as a linebacker. Coach Lazo was defensive player of the week twice and a member of Maine’s 2001-2002 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship football team. He was the winner of the 2003 Most Improved Defensive Player Award and an Academic All-American from 2000-2003. Coach Lazo played 2 seasons of lacrosse for Maine’s club team as a defenseman. Prior to college, Coach Lazo played lacrosse on long Island at Bellport High School. He was the team MVP. He is also the record holder in ground balls, goals by a defenseman and take away’s at Bellport High School from 1996-1999.
Bobby Thompson, Head Coach Providence Day School. Team Charlotte U-13 Head Coach. Coach Thompson just completed his third year as the head coach of Providence Day School. Since taking over the program in 2005, the Chargers have amassed a record of 54-9, reaching the playoffs in each of those three seasons. He guided PDS to its first ever championship game in 2006 and their first state title in 2007. He was named the NCISAA coach of the year in 2007. Thompson also teaches 6-7th grade History at PDS. Prior to taking over the varsity position at PD, he coached the JV team for two years and served as an assistant varsity coach at Charlotte Latin from 2000-2002. Originally from Rochester, NY, Thompson attended Penfield High School and played Midfield for Division I Siena College. He resides in Charlotte with his wife Danielle, and their two sons William and Scott.
Mike
Gambrill, Head Coach-South Charlotte Cyclones. Team Charlotte U-15 Head Coach. A four year starter at close defense for Division
II Pfeiffer University, Coach Gambrill was named all-conference
in 1997, team captain in his junior and senior seasons and lead
Pfeiffer to conference championships in 1996 & 1997.As
a high school player in New Jersey, Mike was selected to play
in the prestigious North South All Star Game. Since his graduation
from college in 1997, Coach Gambrill has coached high school lacrosse
in Charlotte at Providence Day School and Charlotte Latin. After
exploring several high school lacrosse positions this spring,
Coach Gambrill decided to turn his expertise to the middle school
ranks demonstrating the importance of teaching younger players
in the area and is the head coach of the
vaunted South Charlotte Cyclones.

Taylor
Wray-Assistant Coach, Queens University, Charlotte.
Taylor Wray just completed his second year as the assistant men’s
lacrosse coach at Queens University of Charlotte. Wray is a formidable
defender with a wealth of lacrosse experience. Not only a standout
player and team captain at Duke University, he is a force to be
reckoned with in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Wray was
the NLL's Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year
in 2004. Wray, the second pick in the 2004 NLL Draft, led the
Calgary Roughnecks to the NLL Champion's Cup Final. Standing 6’2"
(225 lbs), Wray was noted in Inside Lacrosse as "one of the
top defenders coming into the NLL." As a member of the Burnaby
Lakers Major Junior A Lacrosse team (Canadian National Junior
A Champions ’02, ’00) he was named "Most Inspirational
Player (’02, ’01). While Wray was playing for Duke,
the Blue Devils were Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Champions
twice (’02, ’01) and made three appearances at the
NCAA Tournament (’02, ’01, ’00). Wray was a
four-time varsity lacrosse letter-winner, and was also a three-time
member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll (’02, ’01, ’00).
Wray’s primary coaching experience came at the Duke Lacrosse
Camps and for the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council. He graduated
in May of 2003 with his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Pre-Medicine.
The Edmonton, Alberta native is currently pursing his Master’s
of Arts degree in Teaching at Queens. Taylor returned to his home town in 2006 to continue his career and still plays professonally in both the MLL and NLL.
Chris Perkinson, Assistant Coach-Pfeiffer University. After Five 09Imagesseason as the head coach at Lees-McRae College, Perkinson has recently accepted a position with his alma marta at Pfeiffer University, and will become Jason Dombrowski’s top assistant. As a player at Pfeiffer, Perkinson played on two Deep South Conference Championship teams in 1997 and 1998. He was a three-year starter while being a four year letterman. After college Perkinson has also played on some of the most elite club teams in the country including Reebok, Charlotte, Michelob Light, and Advantage Lacrosse Clubs. He has played in numerous tournaments as well including Vail, Mardi Gras, and Ocean City. Coach Perkinson started his coaching career at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Wheaton, MD. He coached there for two years as the Head Junior Varsity coach and Assistant Varsity Coach, where he was the offensive and extra man coordinator. Perkinson is a native of Reston, VA. He graduated with a Degree in Sports Management from Pfeiffer University in 1998. In 2006 Chris accepted a position to coach lacrosse in Germany.
Chris McCartan: Coach McCartan was a three year starter at close defense for national national powerhouse Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Chris started for the 1995 NCAA Division I National Championship team, and in 1998, was named team captain. After graduation Chris coached for three seasons at Williamsville North High School in upstate New York and played internationally in 1999 & 2000. Coach McCartan spent the 2002 and 2003 seasons with Providence HS. Chris has temporarily stepped away from full time coaching to spend more time with his family and two year old son.
